Rent an operating room — These procedures are possible

Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery / Dermatology
Urology
Proctology
Gynecology
Orthopedics & Surgery
How physicians use ETERNO's procedure rooms
Renting an operating/procedure room can support physicians and practices in many ways. With an additional procedure room, physicians and practices can expand their range of services, create additional capacity, or use a cost-efficient alternative.

We may already have the answer to your questions about renting an operating room
In Class II procedure rooms, invasive procedures and surgeries with a low risk of wound infection may be performed. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that only procedures meeting these criteria are carried out. For guidance, the list published by the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Bayern) serves as a reference. Procedures are divided into three categories:
- Category A(surgeries) in a full operating theatre
- Category B (invasive procedures or surgeries with a low risk of wound infection) in a procedure room
- Category C (invasive measures or surgeries with an even lower risk of wound infection) in an examination or treatment room
Accordingly, Category B and C procedures may be performed in a Class II procedure room.
If reusable instruments need to be sterilised, this must be organised independently by the user or via an external service provider outside the ETERNO site. Limited storage of sterile goods is possible on site.
Users are free to bring any specialised equipment required for procedures, subject to prior agreement. ETERNO assumes no liability, maintenance responsibility or other obligations for externally provided devices or medical products.
A lockable storage room is available for storing consumables. Storage of larger quantities is only possible after prior consultation.
A designated disposal room is available where users can deposit their waste. Waste separation must be carried out in accordance with the hygiene plan. Disposal is performed daily by the cleaning service provider.
ETERNO ensures a regular basic cleaning once daily through a certified cleaning company, in accordance with applicable hygiene requirements, and bears the associated costs.
Between procedures, the user is responsible for cleaning and disinfection. For this purpose, access to the cleaning supplies room is provided.
When renting an operating room, hygiene responsibilities are shared between ETERNO and the user.
ETERNO is responsible for overall hygiene organisation within the ETERNO Space and has established a general hygiene plan. This includes daily basic cleaning of the procedure room in compliance with applicable hygiene standards, with costs covered by ETERNO. In addition, ETERNO has implemented a separate hygiene plan specifically for the procedure room infrastructure.
During use of the room and while performing procedures, the user is responsible for ensuring compliance with all hygiene standards required for the intervention. This means that the user must independently clean and disinfect the room, instruments, etc., or have this carried out by their instructed staff.
The user is explicitly responsible for pre-, intra- and postoperative hygiene when renting an operating room. ETERNO does not monitor the user or their staff in this regard.
By renting an operating room, the user acknowledges these responsibilities and commits to acting accordingly.
Yes. The procedure room is certified for both privately insured (PKV) and publicly insured (GKV) patients. For billing services to GKV patients, a prior application must be submitted to the responsible Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. We are happy to provide the required confirmation from the ambulatory surgery facility operator.
The following procedures are classified as surgeries and therefore may not be performed in a procedure room:
- Procedures involving entry into a primarily sterile body cavity
- Procedures involving penetration into soft or hard tissue beneath a fascia with at least one manipulation such as tissue excision and/or suturing or implantation of foreign material
- Procedures with large wound areas in anatomical compartments without fascia
- Procedures involving implantation of foreign material into sterile compartments or tissues (e.g. breast implants)
- Procedures associated with particularly severe potential complications (especially postoperative infection risk), e.g. intraocular surgeries such as cataract surgery
- Procedures with long duration (> 2 hours)
- Procedures involving bradytrophic tissues, e.g. tendons
