The Mini Lift is a gentle alternative to the traditional facelift and is suitable for patients with moderate skin sagging and the onset of sagging cheeks. A small S-shaped incision in the ear area lifts the skin and SMAS. The reduced size of the wound area results in shorter downtime and less postoperative facial changes. Combined with minimally invasive, non-surgical treatments, it can refresh the face and is also an option for patients who want to avoid the stress of a traditional facelift. Important note: Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough guide. A treatment plan tailored to your individual needs can only be developed during a personal examination and consultation. Only then can we provide you with detailed and comprehensive information about the type of treatment and its limitations, the specific surgical technique, and the associated risks and complications. Please allow yourself sufficient time for this.

From the forties onward, age-related facial changes begin to appear. Numerous studies show that many factors influence the nature of our aging process. These factors include genetic factors, UV radiation, and lifestyle. These are the hallmarks of a "lived-in" face. There are many different methods described under the general term facelift, but their results are limited and tend to be short-lived. Precise knowledge of the anatomical structures of the face is a prerequisite for a successful facelift. The goal of a facelift is to achieve the best possible lifting of sagging facial structures, with the smallest possible scars. The SMAS facelift is currently the most modern technique for facelifting and incorporates the deeper muscle-connective tissue system. Unlike previous techniques, which involved extensive skin removal, which could often lead to a mask-like appearance due to extensive scarring of the subcutaneous tissue, this technique specifically lifts and tightens the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System). This can be performed at various levels; if performed via a deeper approach, it is referred to as a deep plane lift. By exploiting the cross-connections between the skin and the SMAS, this technique eliminates the need for extensive skin mobilization, thus achieving a more harmonious, natural effect and suturing the skin without tension. The incisions are placed individually, in the most inconspicuous locations possible in the ear and hair area. A facelift has no effect on the area around the mouth, with its small lip lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines extending downward from the corner of the mouth. Additional measures would be required for this. A forehead lift, temporal lift, eye lift, midface lift, or neck lift can also be performed. Important note:Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough description. Only within the framework of a personal examination and consultation is it possible to develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. Only then can we fully and comprehensively explain the type of treatment and its limitations, the specific surgical technique, and the associated risks and complications. Neck wrinkles, sagging skin and muscles, the "turkey neck," or localized fat deposits are typical problems of the neck region and also represent the most challenging treatment area. The anatomical structure of the neck and the often hereditary nature of the skin require an individually differentiated assessment and treatment. During a surgical neck lift, not only the skin is lifted, but also, as with a facelift, the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System), which becomes the platysma in the neck, is specifically lifted and tightened. This is done via incisions behind the ear and/or below the chin. Localized fat deposits can be removed directly or via liposuction. From the age of 50, skin elasticity can be so reduced that an isolated neck lift can lead to transverse wrinkles in the lower face and, for this reason, must be combined with a facelift to achieve a more harmonious overall appearance. However, a surgical neck lift can only tighten the skin; it cannot change the skin's texture. If there is a weak connective tissue, often hereditary, which is exacerbated by UV radiation and age-related changes, leading to a "hardening" of the tissue, with deep transverse wrinkles and partially fixed and "scarred" skin, especially in the midline area, then the surgical technique alone reaches its limits. Good skin care early on and non-surgical measures with hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, and, if necessary, laser treatments to improve skin quality may be necessary before and after surgery. Due to its central importance in our interpersonal communication, age-related changes in the eye region are particularly evident. The particularly thin skin in this region, pronounced facial expressions, UV exposure, and, of course, familial predisposition can accelerate the aging process. Rarely, only the skin is affected. The circular muscles surrounding the eye relax, the levator muscle weakens, and connective tissue structures (orbital septum) and ligamentous structures loosen. Lymphatic congestion and bulging of fatty tissue can occur. In the upper eyelid, this leads to so-called "drooping eyelids," which, in particularly severe cases, can result in a visual field restriction, which can be determined by your ophthalmologist through a visual field measurement. After a precise analysis of the individual changes, the treatment plan is determined. Options include surgical removal of excess skin, tightening of sagging muscles and septa, and removal or redistribution of fatty tissue.Additionally, the eyebrow can be secured to the periosteum (brow pexy) from this incision to slightly raise it and mitigate any subsequent drooping. Which of these measures and in what combination are necessary is determined individually. The goal is to achieve rejuvenation of the eye region through the differentiated restoration of personal age-related changes, without losing the natural and unique appearance. The circular muscles surrounding the eye relax, the levator muscle weakens, and connective tissue structures (orbital septum) and ligamentous structures loosen. Lymphatic congestion and bulging of sagging fatty tissue can occur. "Bags under the eyes" can develop in the lower eyelid, and the lower eyelid margin droops. Both of these factors make the eyes appear more tired. After a precise analysis of the individual changes, the treatment plan is determined. In addition to conservative measures such as injections and laser treatments, surgical removal of excess skin, tightening of the slackened muscles and septa, and removal or redistribution of fatty tissue are possible. This can be done on the lower eyelid from the inside or through an external incision below the lash line, and laterally in an existing laugh line. Additionally, fat can be removed by opening the eye socket or placed over the bone edge for cushioning (SOOF-plasty). Likewise, a lateral cantopexy can be used to lift the muscular eye frame, extending to the point of lifting the entire midface. Which of these measures and in what combination are necessary is determined individually. The low position of the eyebrows can sometimes be hereditary or caused by age-related drooping. The low position and the resulting shortened distance between the brow and the lash line can create the impression of a tired look and lead to apparent excess skin on the upper eyelids. Attempting an eyelid lift would not help in this case.A mild brow lift can be achieved with botulinum toxin if the anatomy is suitable. If conservative methods reach their limits, surgical brow lift is an option. There are various access routes via small incisionsat the brow, in the hairline, or at the temple area. Important note:Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough representation. A significant excess of skin is rare in the forehead area. These problems can be reduced to the formation of expression lines and drooping eyebrows. The use of botulinum toxin is a good and low-risk option for reducing forehead wrinkles. If eyebrow lifting is desired, various surgical techniques are available. The endoscopic procedure is more suitable (for mild drooping and minimal wrinkling) and has largely been replaced by consistent botulinum toxin treatment and the traditional incision at or in the hairline. This can also be combined with an upper eyelid lift. Important note: Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough guide. A temple lift can be performed in isolation to lift the lateral eyebrows and temple region, or it can be part of a facelift or eyelift. This is performed through a small incision in the scalp above the ears. Important note: Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough guide. The midface lift focuses on tightening and lifting the midface area between the lower eyelids and upper lip. It can be performed alone or combined with a lower eyelid blepharoplasty or facelift. When performed alone, the incision is usually made below the eyelashes and tapering to the sides, similar to a lower eyelid lift. The skin and muscles are then lifted and stabilized at the bone. Alternatively, the midface can be lifted via the facelift approach as part of a total facelift and stabilized at the skin and muscles of the temple region. From the forties onward, age-related facial changes begin to appear. Numerous studies show that many factors influence the nature of our aging process. These factors include genetic factors, UV radiation, and lifestyle. These factors are the hallmarks of a "lived-in" face. As a result of this aging process, skin, muscles, and connective tissue slacken, while fat and bone tissue deteriorate. There are many different methods described under the general term facelift. There are injections, threads, and lasers, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. There is also the option of lifting and tightening various areas of the face through surgery. Precise knowledge of the anatomical structures of the face is a prerequisite for a successful facelift. The goal of a surgical facelift is to achieve the best possible elevation of sagging facial structures while minimizing scars. One option is to achieve this tightening effect by tightening the skin alone (cutaneous lift). My procedure of choice is a facelift, where the actual tightening occurs via the muscle layer that lies beneath the skin, called the platysma in the neck area and the SMAS (superficial musculoapeunoreutic system) in the facial area. Once this framework is stabilized, the remaining excess skin can be removed without tension. A facelift has no effect on the area around the mouth, with its small lip lines, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines extending downward from the corner of the mouth. Additional measures would be required. A forehead lift, temporal lift, eye lift, or midface lift can also be performed. Important note: Please note that this is a highly simplified and rough guide. As part of the normal aging process of our face, the superficial and deep subcutaneous fat tissue degrades over the years. Due to the additional weakening of the connective tissue framework and its ligamentous structures, the individual compartments can no longer be adequately stabilized. Both of these factors lead to some areas collapsing and others sinking. One option for mitigating these changes and performing a gentle, non-surgical facelift is to increase the volume of the face on a larger scale using hyaluronic acid. We focus on the following three areas: cheeks, cheekbones, perioral region: area around the mouth, chin, and jawline. In approximately three sessions, these three areas are refilled with a special rounded cannula. This enables a tissue-friendly and painless treatment. Complemented by the botulinum toxin treatment, a gentle lifting effect can be achieved.

Wrinkles and "shadows" arise from the loss of substance in our skin and subcutaneous fat. This loss can be filled with our own fat, collagen, or so-called fillers. Of the many filler alternatives, I prefer hyaluronic acid. It is a gel-like substance that occurs naturally in the body (e.g., in our eyes, joints, and skin). Hyaluronic acid is our body's "moisture reservoir," the concentration of which decreases over the years. It can now be synthetically produced almost identically to nature and is available in various concentrations, from very liquid to very solid gel, so that specific areas and wrinkles on the face can be treated in a very finely tuned manner. Fillers can be used to treat the forehead, temples, brow wrinkles, midface, cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds, lips, corner-of-the-mouth wrinkles, and even the décolleté. The effect lasts 12-24 months, depending on the product, and can be repeated.

There are wrinkles that are caused by movement, so-called expression lines. Over time, our skin loses its ability to compensate for these wrinkles, and they dig deep into our face. The frown lines between the eyebrows are typical expression lines. Wrinkles that develop in this way are usually treated with botulinum toxin. Through finely tuned, targeted injections into the affected muscles, the activity of the muscles of the entire face can be individually reduced, and the skin relaxes. The effect lasts 4-6 months and can be repeated.

Teeth grinding and/or clenching (bruxism) is often defined by the intense muscular tension of the involved masticatory muscles. This leads to damage to the teeth and gums. This overload of the muscles and teeth, the periodontal ligament, and the temporomandibular joint can lead to pain and dysfunction (CMD) in the affected structures. The consequences can sometimes be significant and are treated by specialized dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and physiotherapists, depending on the underlying cause. In exceptional cases, botulinum toxin treatment can be performed in conjunction with the medication in an "off-label" setting, meaning the medication is not yet approved for this treatment. This treatment can be repeated every 3-4 months if the patient responds. The treatment is carried out in close collaboration with your attending dental colleagues, who also determine the indication for botulinum toxin treatment and refer you to me in writing.
